New Delhi: India Gate was evacuated by officials late on Thursday evening as the tensions between India and Pakistan rises, calling for precautions in national capital. No one was allowed to remain in the area. Earlier, the Delhi government cancelled all official leaves across the National Capital Territory (NCT).
The Delhi Police officials on Thursday were seen asking people to leave the premises. Meanwhile, DCP said, "This is standard practice to keep C hexagon traffic jam free. Nothing new in it. Anyone can come tomorrow and see it."
In official order, the Delhi government suspended all leaves of its employees until further notice. The Delhi government on Thursday cancelled leaves of all its employees till further orders due to escalating hostilities between India and Pakistan, an official said.
No leave will be granted to any official of Delhi government till further orders given the prevailing situation and preparedness for any emergency, said an order issued late evening by the Services Department of the government.
All district magistrates in the national capital are holding meetings with their subordinates to review health and disaster management preparedness in case of any emergency situation, officials said.
Delhi Flights Cancelled
Today, 8 May, around 90 flights to and from Delhi were cancelled by different airlines, including five international ones. Passengers travelling through Delhi are still facing daily problems, as flight cancellations continued for a second day. This is happening because 27 airports across India have been temporarily closed.
